Codes and Conventions - Radio Trailers

As we have to produce a radio trailer for our documentary, I had to research current radio adverts so that ours would be as accurate as possible. These are some of the trailers I analysed in order to find the codes and conventions:

The codes and conventions I found of radio trailers are as follows:

  • Average length of a radio trailer clip is 40 seconds.
  • Mentions the channel it is going to be broadcast on.
  • Short audio clips from the programme included.
  • Occasionally a music bed with music that is relevant to the programme in some way.
  • Voiceover - the same voiceover that was used in the documentary. The voiceover has to narrate and briefly outlines what the programme is going to be about.
